Clinical Pearls for NEW GRAD NURSE PRACTITIONERS with Real World NP (Liz Rohr)

Hey guys! One of the things I learned as a new grad NP was that networking and collaboration are vital to success as a nurse practitioner. Liz Rohr from Real World NP & I teamed up & put on a FREE Webinar discussing Clinical Pearls for the New Grad Nurse Practitioner. Since my platform is primarily Diabetes Education and Diabetes Management and my focus encompasses all nurse practitioners, I wanted to chat with Liz from Real World NP to provide what she has coined “Smart Guidance for New Nurse Practitioners.”

Real World NP Collab Webinar

Though this is not my main content focus, I was a new graduate nurse practitioner once as well. I remember feeling overwhelmed often and questioning if I made the right decision or not. What made the world of difference for me was more seasoned nurse practitioners in the Dallas area (and a host of other clinicians and disciplines) that took me under their wing and coached me through that season. Though different platforms, Ellis Diabetes and Real World NP are committed to being and providing resources to our fellow nurse practitioner colleagues.

Check Out this Short Clip…

I posted a clip from the webinar but if you would like to see the FULL recording, click the link below and I’ll email it to you.

New Grad NP Resources

I realize that as new grad nurse practitioner, you may have felt overwhelm with diabetes education and management. Diabetes is such a dynamic disease that has so many moving parts so of course it can produce those feelings. I get it…I’ve been there! And that is the reason why my desire with this platform is to be a ONE-STOP SHOP for Diabetes Education & Management while encouraging us all to be LIFETIME LEARNERS! I’ve created some great diabetes cheat sheets and guides that are useful for all types of nurse practitioners no matter what season they are in.

NP Diabetes Starter Pack

The NP Diabetes Starter Pack is a FREE bundle of the resources & cheat sheets for the Nurse Practitioner. These cheat sheets cover the “Need to Know” info pertinent for Diabetes Education & Management. Now the purpose for the Starter Pack is to have concise & up to date references for the NP. The pack is a collective of the foundational components of Diabetes management in primary care. I offer a ton of NP Freebies but I felt that depending upon when you signed up for one, you may have missed a freebie. I wanted to have a place where ALL of my Diabetic Freebies lived and you wouldn’t have to sign up for multiple things. You’ll have them all in one place and get this…as I create new freebies, I’ll add them to the pack. Also as new advances and materials are available, I’ll update the pack to stay compliant with the most recent guidelines as well.

The Starter Pack is for any nurse practitioner that manages diabetic patients. NP students, new grad NP’s, and seasoned NP’s alike will find value from the Starter Pack! TOPICS INCLUDE Diabetic Medications Cheat Sheets (Oral & Injectable), SMART Goal Setting Workbook for your clinic and patients, Dawn Phenomenon vs. Somogyi Effect, Food Guidelines for Diabetes, Components of Clinical Foot Exam

Kim E. The Diabetes NP YouTube Channel & Blog

I am committed to being a resource to ALL nurse practitioners so in order to consider the learning styles of everyone, I created a YouTube Channel and a Blog. Depending on your preference, I got you covered!

The Diabetes Med Bootcamp

The Diabetes Med Bootcamp dives into the Need to Know Info when it comes to Anti-Diabetic Medications. The bootcamp covers every current drug class for Diabetes including oral, injectable, and adjunct medications...it even covers insulin.

The GREAT thing about this activity is that it is approved for 3.41 contact hour(s) of continuing education (which includes 3.16 hours of pharmacology) by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Activity ID 20104596. This activity was planned in accordance with AANP Accreditation Standards and Policies.
